As we've announced recently, our updates will now go out on the 7th of every month.
Scarlet and Lance Sullivan Character Folios!
As a thank you for your patience as we work through the final stages of the Starter Box and expansion books print run, we sent you the recently unlocked Scarlet and the renowned Lance Sullivan's character folios PDFs. You should have already received them on DriveThruRPG (message us on KS or at [email protected] if you didn't).
Overlooked Attractions
The second of four chapters of the expansion book Shadows & Showdowns and the third to be released (after that, just one more to go!) is here: Overlooked Attractions is a collection of some 50 plug-and-play locations and NPCs which you can insert into your game off-the-cuff or build into your case. Each item addresses a common situation in which your crew may find itself -- such as in dire need of transportation or with wads of cash to spend on gear -- and presents a solution, with an equally interesting price or a complication.
Those of you who backed for Shadows & Showdowns will find a sample of the chapter with a few entries enclosed in the updated file. We'll roll out the full chapter throughout this month. We already have 30-35 entries (of ~50) written and we're sweeping through them to prepare them for release, while completing the rest. Luckily, we've had a lot of help with this chapter from great writers like Chris Gunning (of The Undertrash fame) and Jack Godwin (of Stone-Cold Beauty and Puppet Show glory) as well as awesome new authors like Itamar Karbian, with our beloved editor Eran Aviram (of Fortune Row renown) hopefully contributing a few items, and Amit rounding up the chapter with some of his own entries (did I forget anyone?).
Overlooked Attractions is a handy and fun tool for City of Mist MCs who want to jazz things up a bit or need an instant encounter. It also fleshes out the City and the Rift underworld even further without specifically focusing on a district, an Avatar, or the Gatekeepers -- a sort of "Encounter Database" that some MCs asked for. Regular Updates on the 7th
Before we start, a quick announcement: Starting this month and until all rewards are fulfilled, we’ll be sending out a regular monthly update on the 7th of each month, letting you know our progress and sharing backers pre-releases. This should provide you with a clearer view on our production process.
Starter Set Module making waves on Roll20
Not a month since the release of the All-Seeing Eye Investigations Starter Set module on Roll20, and we’re already noticing an upsurge in players seeking City of Mist games.
Hand-in-hand with that, our organized play program for City of Mist intro games on Roll20 is really pushing it home, matching wonderful MCs with CoM-thirsty players to provide the best intro into the game.

Suits Unveiled Backer Preview
Another chapter from the expansion book Shadows & Showdowns will be rolled out in the next few hours, and it is a real mammoth of a chapter - at around 100 pages long, Suits Unveiled is our biggest release since the Core Books!
This new chapter provides players and MCs with an in-depth exploration of the Gatekeepers and the Mist, including:
Life of an Agent - the hidden world of Gatekeeping, from recruitment to everyday life, their Mist-related “Arts”, the equipment they use, and their political outlooks.
Playing a Gatekeeper Character - rules for playing Gatekeepers, including 3 new themebooks, new moves, and new character development rules.
The Gatekeeper Organization - the inner workings of the men and women in gray: hierarchy, departments, factions, and physical assets in the City and in the “Deep Mist”.
The Gatekeepers as Adversaries - all the information the MC needs to use the Gatekeepers in your series: story hooks, Gatekeeper Mist moves, Danger profiles for agents and units, high-profile veterans, vehicles, and security measures.
Secrets of the Mist - offers answers to the greatest question in City of Mist – What is the Mist? and provides guidance on how to create your own answer for your series.
More than it is a supplement, Suits Unveiled practically provides a whole new way to play City of Mist.
Although it is nearly finalized, the copy you will receive is not the fully-finished version of the chapter. We will continue work on the chapter for the final release of S&S. So, if you stumble upon some mistakes or have feedback corrections that are needed to share, please let us know.
Next Up: Overlooked Attractions
Now that work on Suits Unveiled is wrapping up, we turn our attention to finalizing chapter #2 of S&S. Overlooked Attractions is all about providing the MC with on-the-fly solutions to common (and also not so common) gameplay situations and circumstances through carefully-crafted NPCs, locations, Dangers, etc. More on that soon.

Play the Starter Set Online, Starter Box Print Delays

Hello magnificent dragons in mortal skin,
I hope you are all well in these difficult, unprecedented times. Here are two major updates: we have created an online version of the Starter Set that you can play online! On less thrilling news, we are expecting major delays with the print version. More on this below.
PLAY THE STARTER SET ONLINE!
The new Starter Set is live on Roll20! If you’re looking for something to do while at home, you can run it for your friends online. As City of Mist backers, you can get an access code for the Starter Set at cost - $4.95 - paying only the Roll20 fee to use the module. You can order your code here:
Remember to identify yourself as a backer by entering your BackerKit pledge/order number on the notes in the order. Also, it may take up to 2 business days for your code to be sent so please be patient.
We are also running free intro games on Roll20! If you have some free time and want to learn how to play through the Starter Set and Shark Tank, hop on Roll20 and join. You can also join the Organized Play program as an MC and run games for store credit.
PRINT DELAYS
The Starter Box and all its components are complete and ready for print. The Custom Dice have been manufactured and are waiting to be sent to the printer of the Box to be included inside.
However, since the Starter Box is included in the City of Mist Wave 2 print run which is greatly delayed, we are expecting up to 6 months delay with the finaldelivery of the Box. Unfortunately, we cannot at this point separate the Starter Box print run from the rest of the books and accessories, which are ordered as a single print project, shipping run, etc.
As I wrote there, I truly appreciate your patience so far and I apologize for the long wait for Wave 2. We really hoped that by now we would have Wave 2 wrapped up and ready to go, but reality with its many twists and turns proved us wrong. We are diligently working to finish the project and get it printing. We hope we can reduce the expected wait time at least by a month but cannot guarantee it. The good news is that, despite delays, thebeautiful Starter Box is coming, along with more high-quality content and products for City of Mist RPG that we know you will have hours of fun with.
Meanwhile, you can play the game with your friends on Roll20!

Gatekeepers, the Character Folio Pack, dice, and City map

Hi there legends in the real world,
I hope you are all staying safe in these turbulent times. This is just a quick update to let you know of our progress. The Coronavirus pandemic has had different effects on our Wave 2 production schedule: on the one hand, development is moving faster as our team spends more time at home (...), on the other hand, it may cause delays in print and freight that we are still not fully aware of. We will share updates as we receive them. Meanwhile, we wish everyone good health and a peaceful time for those who stay at home. This could be the chance to play all those games you never played!
Following the recent character folio pack survey and backer feedback, we decided that all currentlyavailable characters will be includedin the pack (except Agent Ramirez the Gatekeeper), creating a 12-character extra pregen pack with Excalibur, Salamander, Declan, Flicker, Mitosis, Post-Mortem, Kitsune AND Scarlet, Ghostface, Ben Newman, Mairead, and Lance Sullivan. Together with the new Starter Box, that would give you a whopping 17 printed character pregens. Scarlet, Ghostface, and Lance are coming soon in PDF too. If you didn't grab the Extra Character Folio Pack during the Kickstarter or on the BackerKit pledge manager, you can find it on our store at https://cityofmist.co/store
New art for Lance Sullivan (Don Quixote), the Player's Guide sample character now turned into a new pregen!
The dice should be ready by the end of this month and should arrive in storage mid-April. They will ship together with all the Wave 2 items.
Shadows & Showdowns is moving full steam ahead and should be ready by the end of this month or beginning of next. I am VERY excited about how it’s going to expand the CoM universe, especially the Gatekeepers chapter which practically constitutes a full new game.
The two remaining Nights of Payne Town veins, containing 6 more cases + 1 overarching case, are lined up for finalizing after S&S. The NoPT City Crime Board Map is progressing nicely and should be done by the end of this month. Here are the layout and zoning sketches. The map, which is a part of the "Into The Mist" expansion slipcase, will include all locations from all City of Mist products. This is not the finished map and the labels are also incomplete.

The Original KS backers graciously voted 78% in favor of unlocking the 2016 KS Exclusives: characters Scarlet, Ghostface, and Agent Ramirez, and Gatekeeper-infused case Amnesia Town. This content will soon be available on cityofmist.co and DriveThruRPG.

This unlocking means we can print one of the KS Exclusive character folios in the Extra Character Folio Pack. PROGRESS WITH PRINT
The Starter Box files are ready for print and will be going to pre-press this week. The dice order is in and we await word from China about manufacturing, which should take about a month. We are making good progress with S&S and hoping to wrap it up in the next couple of weeks. Prepare for some serious Gatekeeper action, as we’ll soon release Chapter #4: Suits Unveiled to those of you who purchased the expansion book.
At the minute, it doesn't look as if we will realistically meet the estimated April 2020 delivery date, but we are making good progress and don't estimate delays beyond June 2020 at the most. Currently, it doesn’t seem like the Cornovirus situation in China will delay things any further than our current rate of content production but it's hard to know. Please be aware that with our printer and dice manufacturer both in China, production may be further delayed. We will keep you posted with updated schedule as we receive them.
Meanwhile, we wish all our friends and business partners in China and around the world good health and a quick recovery from this crisis.
